413 Drugs Flashcards
Trogarzo
Used to bind to CD4 and prevent HIV from binding to CD4+ which prevents CD8 from breaking down and killing the CD4.
Killing the CD4 leads to AIDs
Abatacept
Binds to both CD80 and CD86, which blocks T-cell activation via costimulation blockage CTLA4Ig
Used in RA
Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus
Inhibit calcineurin, which blocks T-cell activation by inhibiting activation of NFAT
Immunosuppressive drug
Murononab
Blocks TCR signaling by binding to CD3 and depletes T-cells
Used as an immosuppressive drug
What do Tregs produce
They are made in the thymus and they secret inhibitory cytokines IL-10 and tissue factor beta (TGF-B)
This blocks the activation and effector functions of self-reactive and pathogenic lymphocytes in the periphery
Also will block activation of macrophages
Lacking this leads to autoimmune diseases
