Interpreting Statistical Findings Flashcards

1
Q

Randomised control trial

A

A standardised experimental intervention which involves 2 groups, that are representative of the target population, a control group and an experimental group.
The groups are large enough to detect a statistical difference and are divided by randomised allocation.

Hypotheses

A

To determine which outcome variables need to be measured and tested and reflecting a degree of certainty with which outcome can be predicted

Q

What is the purpose of the control group?

A

It allows potential sources of bias to be identified by creating a situation where the independent variable (what is being tested on the experimental group) cannot influence the results
