Adult Sympathomimetic OD - midazolam dose?
5 mg IV/IO, 10 mg IM
repeat at
2.5 mg IV, 5 mg IM total max of 20 mg
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - midazolam indications?
Sympathomimetic OD with chest pain, hypertensive crisis, symptomatic tachycardia, or agitation
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - midazolam contraindications?
Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
Myasthenia gravis
Systolic BP less than 100 mmHg
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - midazolam precautions?
May cause respiratory depression and hypotension
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - sodium bicarbonate indications?
Sympathomimetic overdose with QRS greater than 0.12 seconds
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - sodium bicarbonate dose?
1 mEq/kg SIVP/IO q 5 min prn to a total max of 2 mEq/kg

None when used in emergency situations
Excessive chloride loss
Alkalosis
Hypocalcemia
Adult Sympathomimetic OD - sodium bicarbonate precautions?
Use with caution in CHF, severe renal impairment, concurrent corticosteroid treatment
Avoid extravasation
