Q

What were some things that Freud believed about the unconscious mind?

A

-The unconscious mind manifests itself through our
dreams or ‘slips of the tongue’ (Freudian slip) that
unconsciously reveal what we really think
-The unconscious mind contains repressed thoughts and
emotions from our childhood where if they became
conscious would be painful and would disrupt our
normal day-to-day functioning
-Repressed memories and early traumatic events in our
lives could appear later in adulthood as depression,
phobias and obsessions.
