  • criticisis fiction. claims it is a waste of time, but if he does read it would be AR. He is not faced by his erroe and continues to be critical of fiction
  • they go to the thorpes hpuse and he insults both mother and sister
  • james and cath walk home. james is happy and thinks of isa as beautiful and is happy cath is on board
  • cath keeps quiet and instead tells james that she is fond of John

  • once there, john goes to the card room, isa is talking to others and cath refuses to dance with her bro
  • is sad and therefore dreams of her gothic heroines,until she sees tilney with a mysterious woman

  • henry wants to dance with catherine, however john comes back and insists that cath will dance with him. they dance a boring dance and talk of carriages horse
  • finished with john and so she now wants to dance with henry. howevr she notices he is occupied and so she converses with eleanor. comes to enjoy her company so much more that isa
  • isa comes back with full apologies. jAMES WANT TO DANCE AGAIN BUT ISA REFUSES AND SAYS THAT IT IS WRONG FOR A WOMEN TO DANCE MORE THAN ONCE WITH A MAN
  • cath gets distracted and looks for tilney. john comes back insistinf for a dance and cath says no

  • dissapointed with last night,however she decided to eet eleanor at the pump room who was the only one who showed her any attention
  • suddenly a carriage arrives, carying J J I . john asks cath why she is not ready
  • cath is shocked and she changes her planes. isa is moaning but still recites to james how much she loves cath
  • john is boasting again.finally cath comes to the conclusion that john is dihonest and adapts his stories depending on how it affects his vanity
  • cath comes home exhausted. she finds out that the allens met the tilneys at the PR and is frustrated that she spent a dy with the thorpes

  • wakes up ready to meet the tilneys,but it begins to rain and she is dissapointed. she continues to talk to the allens about clothes and ediquitte
  • 2 carriages suddenly apear and tell cath she must get ready to got o blaize castle

  • joh claims he say the tilneys leaving the opposite direction
  • as they are leaving cath notises the tilneys and ask J to stop he laughs and prpceeds to move even faster
  • james tells john they should go back because it will take them time to go. John is annoyed and turns back whist he is sewaring
  • cath goes back home and is told the tilneys came. she feels horrible and goes to bed crying

  • cath wakes up and goes to the home of the tilneys and asks the butlet to see eleanor. He thinks she is at home but finds out she is not. cath is perplexed and believes the butler is liying
  • she sees a carriage and there is EL and GT cah is shocked and feels it ti intentional
  • goes to the theatre with the allens and sees the GT and H. she notices they are not paying much attention to her and is absorbed in the play. once doen he greets her with no smile
  • she finally sees henry and she explains what happened
  • she asks why eleanor was ignoring her and henry explains that the gebneral wanted to spend time with her and so ordered the butler to lie
  • she sees John speaking to the general
  • cath goes over to ask
  • john claims gt has favurable impressions of her

-catherine resists to changer her plans again but both isa and john are stubbborn
-isa says she cannot be left alone with 2 men
. cath tries to comprimise yet john and james are disgusted and annoyed and james proceeds to insult cath
-john goes to lie to the tilneys aain
-cath is furious and runs to the tilneys to explain herself . GT sees her and isists to stay for dinner cath refuses cus the allens are expecting her
-has a convo with the allens- what is considered social exepting

  • they are walking and have discussions about readein. we come to find out thenry loves TMOU just as much as cath
  • thye talk about factual text. eleanor claims they are torturous and henry says that a balance is necessary
  • comparing the river to france
  • the nice scene , treats cath like his sister this implies he is comfortable arounf her
  • they talk about art and he realises cath lacks knowledge
  • she is invited to dinner the folowing evening
  • as she walks home she bumos into the thorps sister and cath is told they went to BC but cath is happy she was not forced to go.

  • allens were not surprised of the engagement they were just annoyed james did not concult them before going home to fullerton.

Chapter 16 - volume 2

catherine reflect upon her dinner she had with the tilneys the night before. she was confused as to why the tilneys were so reserved, but at the same time, understands why cosidering their farther GT
- catherine decides to vent about the tilneys to isa. isa however proceeds to insut the tilneys and tells catherie that they are not worth her praise. cath disagrees
CT is introduced- back and forth flirtation between isa and CT- ends with a dance
catherine on the hand is not a big fan of CT
isa receives the letter from james and come to found out that she must wait 2-3 years, essentially delaying the wedding
isa explains its the wait not the money- justifies her dance with CT by saying he was insisting and that james wouldnt want her to be left alone

catherine reflects upon all that bath has provided and is sad because she does not want to leave
she comes to find out that the tilneys are leaving-cath is sad- but gt invites her o NA. catherine is extactic, finally her gothic f]dreams are coming true.
she is so happy that the tilneys have invited her, but first she must get consent from the allens
=overal cath is happy

A

catherine meets isabella at the pum room. it is so obviouslt clear that isa is distressed, however she dinies all. isabella proceeds to giv catherine the letter from john thorpe
- catherine is preplexed and does not recall john ever hinting or asking her hand for marriage. isabella does not believe her and tells cath that she should be more hobest. cath continues to remain appauled.
isabella blames this on youth. she is young and so she soe not know what she want to do.
CT poops uo from no where and begins to flirt with isa
cath feels completely embarassed adn is sad for her brother
he disconfort causes her to leave
isa explaims she is tired and remains back with CT

the flirtation grows
catherie wishes to leave and go to NA, until she hears that gt has to stay in bath.
catherine goes to henry and insits that he talks to his brother. henry reassures cath that he is aware of their growing atraction, however CT is not the only one whois encouraging such behavior. catherine insits more
henrey continues to lecture cath and lets her know that she shouldnt interfere, as this is betwen isa and CT. he teaches her about humanity and the concept of love
catherine can now releave her stess
and agrees with what henry is saying

they are to depart to NA= THE ALEENS ARE DISTRESSED BUT TELL CATHERINE THAT they enjoyed her company. butt their stay in bath is coming to an end and they must leave and go back home-leaving cath alone
as catherine is walking to tilneys home she is anxious because she feels like she does not fit in
once shes there she has an akward brekfast
and then GT offers his seat to catherine, on the carriage. cath is apprehensive because she remeber th inproprieties of sitting in a carriage alone with a man, but she trusts GT
along their journy henry begins to describe in detaile what catherine will encounter. catherine is excited, yet, aware that he is only teasesing her
once their we are provided with the first anti-climax as NA juxtaposes the traditional sense of gothic architecture as it seems modern. catherine is disapointed
she goes up to get ready for dinner but eleanor tells cath that she shouldnt dress too formal
