Multi Celluar Part ttwo Flashcards

1
Q

What if Meiosis goes Wrong ?

A

Down syndrome caused by extra copy of chromosomes 21, usually resulting from non-disjunction during meiosis 1 in the female ovary ,segregation errors during meiosis increases greatly with advancing material age

Q

Differences between Sperm and Egg ?

A

Sperm :

  • Specialised for movement
  • One of the smallest cells

Egg :

  • Able to generate all cells in the body when activated usually by fertilisation
  • Nutrients for the first few rounds of cell division , one of the cell types

Q

What does the Chromosomes ?

A

Segregate in Anaphase A and B

The sudden loss of sister -chromatid cohesion at the onset of anaphase leads to sister -chromatid sequence separation

Allowing the forces of the mitotic spindle to pull te sisters to opposite poles of the cell

Chromosomes move by two independent and overlapping processes

Q

First Anaphase /Second Anaphase

A

Initial polward of movement of chromosomes , due to shortening pole ward of kinetochore microtubules

Second Anaphase B Seperation of the spindle poles themselves , beginning after sister chromatids have separated and the daughter chromosomes , moved some distance apart

Segregated chromosomes are packaged in Daughter nuclei telophase .Daughter chromosomes have segregated into two equal group at opposite eneds of the cell

Telephase - Two sets of chromosomes are packaged into pair of daughter nuclei

Q

What does M- cdk AND Spindle Formation do ?

A

M-CDK

  • Triggers events of early mitosis , including chromosomes condensation , assembly of the mitotic spindle and bi polar attachment of the sister chromatid pairs of microtubules of the spindle

Spindle Formation
- In animal dependent on the largely on the ability of mitotic environment to stimulate local microtubule .Nucletion and stability as well as the ability of motor proteins
