A
- Environment = external physical and social environments that surround individuals and in which occupations occur
- Context = interrelated conditions which are both within and surrounding individuals

- Seen as the context within which occupational performance takes place

Promoting occupational performance through the environment
A
- Physical: reorganise, modify, redesign
- Social: facilitate personal support
- Cultural: educate with view to revising understanding activity patterns and behaviour
- Personal – provide familiar experiences, facilitate connection between the person and environment
Temporal – acknowledge and accommodate history and future plans and time of day/year, revise duration & rhythm of activity
Virtual – create simulated experiences, advocate for accessibility
Socio-economic – review and recruit financial resources and security
Institutional – provide input to services, systems and policies

Ecological Systems Theory
A
- Microsystem: The setting in which the individual lives e.g. person’s family, peers, school, and neighbourhood.
- Mesosystem: System that contains a series of microsystems e.g. community.
- Macrosystem: Describes the culture in which individuals live
