A

Cultural deprivation:

  1. (Driver and Ballard) automatically put down a grade if first language isn’t English
  2. Accents cause negative teacher labelling
  3. (Driver and Ballard) high expectations from close-knit families
  4. (Archer and Francis) Chinese parents value education highly
  5. Less support from single-parents in African families

Material deprivation:

  1. Chinese and Indian groups are likely to be higher class
  2. FSM are good indicators of material dep.
