Q

What is significant regarding Banquos ambition?

A

It goes unrecognised but one could argue that Banquos ambition is what made him sacrifice himself for his son. He knew from the witches that he himself would never gain a superior title like King but that his son could and it perhaps not his love for his son but is his ambition regarding the fact his name could carry on to be royal that Spurs him to sacrifice himself

Q

What is significant about the witches ambition?

A

Witches are known to have links with the devil which leads the audience to think that they are blatantly striving for chaos but it is hinted at that they desire to be loved ( Shakespeare metaphorically making a point - women- audience don’t jump to conclusions) however because they cannot be loved they fill that void with evil games
