Ventilation Flashcards

1
Q

Negative pressure ventilation

A
  • Patient is placed in a sealed chamber from the neck down
  • A vacuum is generated causing the thorax to expand and allowing air to move into the lungs down a pressure gradient

Q

MECHANICAL VENTILATORS

A
  • Allow more accurate ventilation than manual IPPV

- Pressure of gas reaching patients lungs can be controlled (reducing risk of trauma)
