Q

What went wrong in the Somme?

Artillery and shells

A
  1. Artillery shells: The artillery shells were not accurate and some didn’t explode. Also the barbed wire wasn’t destroyed, as had been intended, so when the British went over the top they got caught in barbed wire and mowed down by German machine gun posts
