A

Sit upright cross legged. This will prevent sleepiness somewhat.

What are some tips on following the breath?

A

Use the pause to scan your peripheral awareness for potential gross distractions. Follow your breath by observing closely the start of the breath and the end.

What should you do with the breath if you’re having trouble connecting and following the breath?

A

You should start counting when you exhale and then stop counting when you inhale. You should then compare how long your breath paused to previous pauses. Make sure not to try to control the breath.

Should you focus on the whole breath or something else?

A

Something else. Focus on just one aspect of the nose, such as the bottom of the nose, and allow the breath to come and go around that area.
