why do multicellular plants need transport systems?
A
- metabolic demands - many parts don’t photosynthesise, removal of waste required, transport of phytohormones, mineral ions from roots to all cells
- size - roots to tips of shoots & stems, perennial plants large
- SA:V - overall small so diffusion insufficient
