-Athenian tragedy, Oedipus was told by an Oracle that he would kill his father and have relations with his mother, he then blinded himself after doing it
-he does everything he can to stop it but it still end up happening
-as he tried everything he could do to stop it he ultimately acted virtuously, including his remorse

conclusion

A

-a virtuous action requires a positive intention
-not sufficient to have a desire or wish to do something
-one must also have performed some act that can reasonably expect a result for the desired outcome
