Q

What is released in an inflammatory or allergic reaction and by what?

A

When talking about fluid connective tissue i.e. blood specifically then, eosinophils (2-3%,bilobed) are associated with allergic reactions (and infections) and basophils (0.5-1%, trilobed) secrete histamine, heparin and serotonin and are involved in inflammatory reactions.
However, these are also secreted by mast cells in loose connective tissue (Areolar) and hence these mast cells have come to be associated with basophils.

Q

When an antigen enters the body, how does our immune system react?

A

First interaction with the antigen is via Macrophages which then forwards essential information to B cells so that they can create antibodies to kill the antigens (through Helper T cells)
