Q

(Briefly) explain how vermouth is made.

A

A low-alcohol wine is made, to which sugar syrup is added before the wine is fortified with the addition of alcohol. This mixture is placed in barrels or tanks with the dry flavoring ingredients. It is stirred periodically before ready to be bottled and drank. Caramel color is generally added for red vermouth.
