When do you need a new release?
If stuck on the ground at an intermediate airport for more than 6 hours
When are 2 alternates filed?
- wx below lowest authorized Cat I at destination or
- wx below Cat I derived alternate minimums at 1st alertnate airport
Can a flight be released to an airport with weather below Cat I minimums
Flights are never released below CAT I weather minimums unless CAT II or CAT III instrument approach procedures are available and all conditions required for release to CAT II or CAT III can be met
When a second alternate is filed, do you have fuel to go from destination MAP to 1st alternate then 2nd alternate?
no, only fuel to go to the most distant alternate
How often must an autoland be accomplished?
every 30 days
When will you get an autoland performed requirement? (APR)
within 7 days of expiry
How often is a max power takeoff requied? (MPT)
every 30 days
If the number of write ups exceeds the number of available spaces, what do you do?
write “ Continuation from Log page XXX -XX” on the routing section of the page
Can you depart without an IFR clearance?
Not normally, but if comms were down, you could depart, but must not be further than 50nm before a flight plan is filed
What does M86 mean on the FP ETP points section?
all engine ETP (for medical emergencies etc)
What does the Depress LRC ETP assume?
Drop to 140, and then travel to ETP airport at LRC speed
What is RESERVE fuel on the flight plan?
- Either the 10% Class II navigation fuel required by Ops Specs 043
- or the 10% of flight fuel for regular IFR international reserves
What is “Holding Fuel” as shown on the flight plan?
Fuel to hold for 30 min at 1500’ at the alternate
What is ADDNL burn?
discretionary fuel added by the PIC or FF for reasons not included in the flight plan
Is ballast fuel usable?
no
