Plane Joint
Uniaxial joint that permits sliding or gliding along 1 plane.
Pivot Joint
Uniaxial joint that permits rotation only.
Hinge Joint
Uniaxial joint that permits flexion and extension only.
Saddle Joint
Biaxial joint that permits flexion, extension, abduction, abduction and circumduction.
Condyloid Joint
Biaxial joint that is a saddle joint just not saddle shaped.
Ball and Socket joint
Multiaxial joint that allows almost all movements.
Fibrous Joint
Describes joints that are held together via fibrous joints and do not move.
Cartilaginous Joint
Describes joints held together via hyaline cartilage. More movable than fibrous, but not as moveable as synovial.
Synovial Joint
Describes a joint surrounded by a capsule of synovial fluid. Highest degree of motion.
Skeletal muscle
Striated, organized parallel, multi-nuclei, voluntary muscle. Makes up the vast amount of muscles.
Cardiac muscle
Striated, unorganized, Uni-nuclei, involuntary muscle. Has intercalated discs. Only found in heart.
Smooth muscle
Unstriated, organized, uni-nuclei, involuntary muscle. Found in blood vessels and hollow organs.

Pennate muscles
Oblique fibers, feather-shaped.
- can be unipennate, bipennate or multipennate based on how many different fascicles arrangements along tendons.
Fusiform muscles
Parallel fibers. Spindle shaped with a round belly and tapered ends.
