What is the definition for an infant?
A passenger under the age of 2
What is the definition for a child?
A passenger over the age of 2 but under the age of 12
When should door barrier straps be used?
Door is not being used for pax embarkation, servicing, catering, maintenance or fuelling.
Condition of steps / air-bridge is not satisfactory
To protect the safety & security of the aircraft
To allow a door to be left unattended as long as barrier strap and steps / air-bridge in place
How often should the Cabin and Galleys be checked in-flight?
Every 30 minutes
How often should the Lavatories be checked in-flight?
Every 20 minutes
What are you looking for when checking the Lavatory during normal checks?
No indication of fire or smoke
Compartment free from messages or suspicious articles
Waste bin flaps are serviceable
Toilet flush is working normally
Temperature of hot water not excessive
How often should the flight deck be checked in-flight?
Every 20 - 30 minutes
What is the maximum number of unaccompanied minors allowed per flight? Why is this?
8 - they become the responsibility of a CC member in the event of a diversion
Where would you place an unaccompanied minor?
Allocated seats in the front of the a/c close to an exit but not in an exit row
What considerations should be made for a passenger with sight or hearing difficulties?
Passenger receives personal brief on:
Location of exit and no of rows away from them
Location and use of safety equipment
Location and use of lavatory
Location of attendant call button
Shown the Braille card
What is the maximum number of children under 14 allowed on a flight?
Not to exceed 50% of pax complement
What is the maximum number of infants under 1 year allowed on the flight?
Not to exceed 10% of pax complement
Each infant is to be allocated a seat
What is the definition of an unaccompanied minor?
A child between the ages of 7 -12 whom is travelling on a flight without parents or gaurdians.
How many assistance dogs may we carry?
Maximum of 1
Are car booster seats allowed for use by children or infants?
No - only fully shaped car seats with a 5 point harness and the ability to be anchored to aircraft using seatbelt are allowed
Forward and rearward facing seats are acceptable
