Why is demand for water causing water stress in Israel?

A

Trans-boundary water sources such as the River Jordan and various aquifers shared between Israel and Palestine has potential to worsen conflict over water. Population growth is causing stress, Israel uses too much and has to import water from Turkey

A

Palestinians have accused Israel of using water access as a weapon against them in the West Bank
Overuse of shared coastal aquifers in Gaza is causing salt water to seep into them if this continues it could cause them to become useless to people

A

California has been suffering from successive droughts due to population growth and the economy.
Unevenness in population as majority live in South where as most live in North.
There is a massive infrastructure for water abstraction and transfer to support cities

A

Demand for food grows with population. Need to irrigate dry areas for crops to grow. As population develops they will eat more meat which uses a lot of water
