Q

What is the conservation of mass?

A

When a substance changes state, the number of particles in the substance stays unchanged. So the mass of the substance is the same after the change as before the change

Q

Internal energy?

A

Energy of the particles that is caused by their individual motion and positions. The internal energy of the particles is the sum of kinetic + the potential energy

Q

Why are the particles of a gas in terms of attraction weak?

A

Because the particles of a gas move about in high speeds in random directions, colliding with each other and the internal surfaces of the balloon.

Q

Why would thing burst if they are sealed?

A

Because when the temperature increases, the pressure of the gas inside it increases.

Q

How does a states of matter graph go?

A

A to B = the substance starts to warm
B to C = the substance is melting
C to D= the substance is going to boil at 100°c
