16
Q

How can mixtures be separated

A

By physical means eg filtration, crystallisation, simple distillation

17
Q

What is fractional distillation

A

An effective way of separating miscible liquids using a fractionating column, the separation is possible because of the different boiling points of the mixture

18
Q

What is paper chromatography

A

Separates mixtures of substances dissolved in a solvent as they move up a piece of chromatography paper, the different substances are separated because of their different solubilities in the solvent used
