Stage 6 Pneumatic Flashcards
What does pneumatic system provide?
High pressure air for:
1) Air Conditioning
2) Engine Start
3) WAI
4) Water/HYD Reservoir pressurization
5) FTIS
What are the bleed sources in the A/C?
1) Engines
2) APU load compressor
3) HP Ground connection
What connects into the XBleed duct?
APU, ground and engines
What computer controls the pneumatic system and relay its ECAM indications and warnings to pilots?
BMC 1 and 2 (Bleed Monitoring Computer)
Where is the leak detection system located?
Detects overheating at the vicinity of hot air ducts
How does BMC control engine bleed?
1) Selects the stage to bleed form
2) Regulates the bleed temperature and pressure
What happens if one BMS fails?
The other takes over most functions. Only functions lost are leak detection of onside engine bleed and APU leak detection incase of BMC 1 fail
How are bleed valves controlled and actuated in the pneumatic system?
They are electrically controlled by their associated BMC and pneumatically actuated
When is HP stage used in engine bleed?
At low engine power IP might not be enough to maintain 36psi -/+4
how is air from HP stage prevented from recirculating into the IP stage?
Via an intermediate pressure check valve
When does the HP valve close automatically ?
Exessive or low upstream pressure
When does the bleed valve close by pilot action?
by BLEED or ENG Fire pbs
When does the bleed valve close automatically?
if BMC detects
1) Overpressure and Overtemperature
2) Leak
3) Open Starter Valve
4) Engine Shutdown
5) APU Bleed ON
6) No consumers
If APU bleed is ON and Xbleed is Closed what happens to ENG 2 Bleed?
Remains open
How is temperature regulated initially after the air is bled?
A precooler uses engine fan air to reduce bleed air down to 200C
