Anatomy Of Muscle And Nerves Flashcards

1
Q

Organisation of muscle fibres

A

Extrafusal fibres = individual muscle fibres surrounded by endomysium, bound into fascicles surrounded by perimysium, makes muscle surrounded by epimysium.
Intrafusal fibres = muscle spindle which responds to gamma motorneurones.

Q

Connective tissue in binding muslce, forming tendons and influencing line of pull.

A

The epithelium is comprised of endomysium which surrounds muscle fibres, perimysium which surrounds fascicles and epimysium which surrounds the whole muscle.
The line of pull is the direction of force exerted by a muslce depending on the orientation of its fibres, its skeletal attachments, the deposition of its tendons amd the axis of movement of any affevted joints.

Q

Orientation of fibres

A

Muscle fibres within a named muscle may have different orientations which is the direction of pull. Muscles passing over a joint will act on that joint.

Q

Grouping of muscles

A

Muscles are often grouped together as flexors and extensors or anterior and posterior compartments. The individual muscles within the groups often have the same nerve supply.
