 Can be used for in or out jobs
 Log a job and an empty device or device with data is shipped
 Ideal for TB or PB data transfers – 50TB (only US) or 80TB per Snowball
 1Gbps or 10Gbps using a SFP
 Data encryption using KMS
 Generally used from 10TB till 10 PB
 Larger jobs or multiple locations can use multiple devices
 End-to-end process time is low considering the amount of data (week(s))

What is Snowball Edge?

Answer 2

 Includes both storage and compute
 Larger capacity
 10 Gbps (RK45 – copper), 10/25 Gbps (SFP – fiber), 45/50/100 Gbps (QSFP+ - fast fiber)
 Compute can be used for local instances or Lambda functionality
 Three versions:
• Edge storage optimized: 80TB, 24 vCPU, 32 GiB RAM
• Edge compute optimized: 100TB, 52 vCPU, 208 GiB RAM
• Edge compute optimized with GPU: as above with a GPU equivalent to P3 EC2 instance
 Compute can be used for local IoT, data processing prior to ingestion into AWS, and more
 Used in the same situations as Snowballs, but when compute is required

What is Snowmobile?

Answer 3

 Portable storage data center, available in certain areas only, connected with data center for the whole duration of the transfer
 Used when single location, 10 PB+ is required
 Each Snowmobile can transfer up to 100 PB
