There are several ways fibrosis is influenced for example:
- Integrin-dependent crosstalk between β-catenin and Smad signaling, which causes epithelial to mesenchymal transistion(EMT).

• There is evidence that embryotic cardiac fibroblasts regulate myocardial proliferation through integrin signaling
