Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)

A

an electron gun shoots a beam of electrons toward the back side of the monitor screen

use three guns, one for red, green, and blue image components,

each gun works only on dots of a certain color

screen is coated with special chemical dots called phosphors

each pixel is formed by a triangle of red, green, and blue phosphor called a triad
