What is urticaria and how is it treated?

A
  • Itchy, wheals
  • Immune mediated type I allergic IgE response
  • Non-immune mediated direct mast cell degranulation (e.g. antibiotics, opiates, NSAIDs and contrast media)
  • Treat with antihistamines, steroids and immunosuppression
