Division come from latin terms, dis (apart) and vis videre = to see. Hence to see apart
Real definition of division
It is resolving (separation) of a whole into its parts.

Ex. Substance can be divided into material and immaterial substance

The resolutiom of a thing (of a real whole) into the members of its extensiom
