TCRs Flashcards

1
Q

2 types of TCRs

A

1) alpha-beta (“conventional T cells”): recognize peptides shown by MHC
2) gamma-delta (minority): recognize antigens directly or when presented by CD1

Q

TCR associated proteins

A

2 pairs of CD3 chains (one epsilon/gamma pair, one epsilon/delta pair) + 1 homodimer of zeta chains.
CD3s and the zeta chains have long tails into cytoplasm, associated with ITAM signaling molecules.

Q

how is TCR diversity created?

A

VDJ recombination:

alpha-beta has 10^6 possibilities, gamma-delta has 10^3 possibilities
