Curley’s Wife

-only good woman is a dead woman
-seen as Curley’s possession
“can’t talk to nobody but Curley”
therefore she seeks attention from others
-she’s nameless due to her dependence on her husband and is treated as an object
-lack of importance
-only woman on the ranch and is therefore always excluded from activities (horse shoes)
-goes on the ranch seeking company
-throughout the novel she’s called derogatory terms such as “tart”, “jailbait” and “looloo” therefore being presented through the eyes of a male and can’t have a dream
-the quote “stay the hell home where she belongs” also shows how big of an issue sexism was in the 1930s
