A

The perceived cumulative assessment is your subject assessment, and continuous reassessment, of an incident, using TOF/TENR, based on information known about the situation and the subjects behaviour.

What is TENR?

A

The Police threat assessment methodology ‘TENR’ (Threat Exposure Necessity Response) is a decision making process that supports the timely and accurate assessment of information directly relevant to the safety of Police and others. The response to any given situation must be considered, timely, proportionate and appropriate.

A

What is the threat in TENR?

A

Means any individual/s or group/s, or any act/s, or anything/s likely to cause harm or that have the potential to hinder police in the performance of their duties.

A

Exposure means the potential for harm (physical or otherwise) to people, or the security of place or things. Exposure can be mitigated through assessment and planning.

Actively hostile behaviour accompanied by physical actions or an intent, expressed either verbally and/or through body language, to cause physical harm. eg. punching, kicking, body language signalling an intent to assault.

A

By the end of shift or upto 72 hours with supervisors approval.

A

Each TOR form is reviewed by your supervisor and a reviewing officer. Once signed off, the TOR form is completed and stored in the TOR database.
