Sec. 2 Iteration Flashcards

1
Q

a) What are iterative methods
b) When and how do you use a calculator to solve iterative methods?
c) How do you solve an iteration without a calculator?

A

a) Iteration is where you repeat a calculation until you get narrow the interval in which the solution lies.

b)

When there is a xn and x0=no. in the Q.

  • Type in the ‘x = ‘ no. and then type in the equation sub.ing ANS where xn appears.
  • Press ‘=’ repeatedly till the answer repeats or till the given no. of times

c)

  • Sub. each in the no.s between the interval you are given into the equation.
  • When there is a sign change, this means the solution lies between these last two values.
  • Sub. the values 2 d.p. into the equation
