Q

Primary force on spinning rotor blade?

A

The rotor head center hub forms a star with four arms which are flexible in the flapping axis, but rigid in the lead/lag axis. The rotor blades are connected to the center hub by means of rigid attachment bars that permit flapping, drag and pitch change functions through the use of laminated spherical thrust bearings and sheer−deformable frequency adapters. An anti− cone stop for each blade facilitates starting in high winds. Centrifugal force causes the stops to retract as rotor speed increases. When the rotor speed decreases, the stops are extended to their initial position by return springs. Spring activation is between 181 and 202 RPM
