Describe the features of postnatal care

A
  • Up to 8 weeks after birth
  • Need to monitor physiological changes
  • Diagnose and treat postpartum complications
  • Midwives go in until day 10 or day 28 if family at risk then handover to heath visitor or GP
  • Need to be sure that women don’t fall between the cracks of the two heath services
