Q

Describe the three methods by which a coating provides corrosion control

A

Barrier coatings impede the ingress of oxygen, water, and soluble salts

Inhibitive coatings serve as a barrier and actively slow down the reaction occuring at the anode, cathode, or both

Sacrifical coatings use a metal that is anodic to steel and which corrodes preferentially
