What is the stage of wound healing, homeostasis?
It is immediately following the injury. Blood clot occurs.
What is the inflammatory phase?
The inflammatory phase begins 0-3 days after the injury. Fibroblast
What is the proliferation phase?
The proliferation phase begins 2-24 days after the injury occurs. Proliferating subcutaneous fat.
What is the epitheliazation (remodelling) phase?
The epitheliazation phase begins 24 days - 1 year and beyond. Freshly healed epidermis.
Common wounds are:
Pressure areas Skin tears Surgical wounds Venous & arterial ulcers Skin cancers Burns
Goals of wound assessment are:
This is dependent on the individuals wound for example, a leg ulcer may have a goal that focuses on maintenance. Whereas a simple skin tear may have a goal to what within a short period of time.
The goal that comes out of the assessment of the wound will determine the type of product that will be used.
