what is the surrounding skin of a VI wound like

A
  • hyper pigmentation, hemosiderin staining,
  • lipodermatosclerosis, (scarring, hard thicker and immobile sin that can cause a champagne bottle leg).
  • hypertrophic changes thick scaly epidermis and breaking in the skin can lead to bacteria and cellulitis.
  • irritation from exposure to drainage or dressing of constant compression
  • varicose veins (overloaded backed up system)

what are some wound characteristics (edges, depth, exudate, and pain)

A

uneven edges and diffuse, also shallow. highly exudative, and serous drainage, (little to no= AI). pain is usually not too bad.

what is the peri wound like

A

maceration is common initially or with inadequate dressing or changing schedule, diffuse edges and irritation
