What is the 4 step cycle to manage H&S risks?
1: Plan - Assess risk
2: Do - Implement
3: Check - Monitor performance
4: Act - Take action
Static Risk
Static risks are predictable and can be planned for ahead of time.
Dynamic Risk
Difficult to predict and hard to plan for.
We use TENR and AFCO to help us assess risks on the go.
Critical Risk
Death or life-threatening injury
What is a near miss?
Unplanned or unexpected event which could have resulted in harm to a person but did not.
What is a notifiable event?
Certain events that arise from work which include:
- Death
- Injury or illness
- Notifiable incident
What is a notifiable incident?
Unplanned or uncontrolled event where worker is exposed to serious and imminent risk of harm.
When do we have to notify WorkSafe?
Four main occasions
- Admission to Hospital (In a ward)
- Serious head injury
- Loss of consciousness
- Certain near miss events
