A

Definition: Remains after all business expenses have been deducted from business sales revenue (income).

SALES REVENUE > OPERATION EXPENSES = PROFIT
GP = SALES - COGS
NP = GP - EXPENSES
NP provides:
- A return on investments 
- Wealth for the owner
- Tax income for the government.
