What are the purposes of child study committee?

A

Before a formal assessment is given, the classroom teacher of the student considered for SPED services will meet with this team and discuss the problem and what modifications to instruction or classroom could be done to help.

What is the role of RTI in the assessment process?

A

The tiers of RTI are used to show how a child is doing. Is tier 1 working or are they moving to tier 2? Are they at tier 3? Etc.

A

School records, prior academic achievement, prior test scores, group standardized achievement test results, attendance records, prior teacher reports, group IQ test information, prior teacher referrals, medical history in the school nurse’s office, and student work

A

Why is it important to rule out vision, hearing, medical, economic, cultural, and environmental issues during the pre-referral process?

A

Because these things could point towards issues at home, underlying health issues, or something else entirely. It has nothing to do with academic work.
