Q

Percentile rank (percentile)

A

Is a score indicating the percentage of people of scores that occur at or below a given score, For example if you have a percentile rank of 75 in a class, this means that you did as well as or better than 75 percent of the students in the class.

Q

Standard score

A

A score that is derived from an individual’s raw score within a distribution of scores. The standard score describes the difference of the raw score from a sample mean, expressed in standard deviations. Standard scores preserve the absolute differences between scores.

Q

Stanine

A

A stanine (“standard nine”) score is a way to scale scores on a nine-point scale. It can be used to convert any test score to a single-digit score. Like z-scores and t-scores, stanines are a way to assign a number to a member of a group, relative to all members in that group.

Q

A

This is another way to express test performance. T scores have a mean of 50 with a standard deviation of 10.
