Q

Discuss the similarities and differences in the structures of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system?

A

Similarities - In both, fibres leave the CNS in a ganglion.
Differences - Sympathetic, ganglia are close to the CNS.
Parasympathetic, ganglia are close to the effector organ.

Q

Describe the dorsal and ventral routes in nervous transmission.

A

The dorsal route carries impulses from the rest of the body to the spinal cord (sensory)
The ventral route carries motor commands from the spinal cord to the body’s muscles and glands.
