22
Q

TB
Apparatus

Rear mount:

Do you have to use stabilizing pads?

A

Yes, at all times

23
Q

TB
Apparatus

Rear mount:

Uneven ground:
Which stabilizer first?
How low?

What about the other stabilizer?

A

Lowest side first (direction the apparatus is leaning)

Should be fully lowered

Stabilizer on the high side should EXTENDED AS NECESSARY and then lowered to a point that levels the apparatus
UNLESS: the WORKING side is the HIGH SIDE - then it MUST be fully extended then lowered accordingly

24
Q

TB
Apparatus

Rear mount:

Can you use emergency hydraulic system with engine running?

A

No,

Engine - off

Ignition - on

Transmission - neutral

**needs a cool down period between operations

25
Q

TB
Apparatus

Short jacked: how far does system allow ladder to rotate towards short jacked side?

A

No more than 15 degrees

**You can override it by holding override switch while pressing foot switch

26
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

Pump idle pressure equals what?

A

Pressure pumps provide + water intake

27
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

What is typical pressure pumps provide in volume or in pressure?

A

Volume equals 55

Pressure equals 110

28
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

What mode do we use the PPG in?
Pressure or rpm?

A

Pressure only

RPM Can be used as back up if pressure malfunctions but all lines should back out to a safe refuge area

29
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

What is static versus residual pressure

A

Static = intake without water flowing

Residual= Remaining pressure once water has begun flowing.

30
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

If you were first to arrive then which connection should you use?

A

Either 10 foot small or 35 foot soft

31
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

If other than first to arrive which connection can you use?

A

10 foot small
35 foot soft

or 10 foot hard

32
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

When should you use the 10 foot hard suction?

A

When arriving at Second or greater alarms and at drafting operations

33
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

When should you use the 3 1/2 inch hose to supply?

A

If the 35 foot soft cannot reach and when in line pumping

34
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

Should you connect to the hydrant first or the apparatus?

A

Hydrant because you may have to reposition the rig

35
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

The pump pressure gauge should read no more than __ above the intake pressure gauge.

A

50 psi

36
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

When you have only one line in operation and you were told to shut down, how should you shut down?

A

Return to idle and then close discharge gate

37
Q

TB
Apparatus

Basic pumping:

If operating the pump with all gates closed how can you prevent damage by heat buildup?

A

Keep water flowing through a drain or operate bypass cooler
