Goal directed, purposeful behavouir.

Why should care be taken when mistaking lack of motivation with demotivation?
They could also be signs of stress
What is Maslows self respect/esteem?
Desire to ensure safety.
What is Maslows security?
Fear of being punished and loosing job.
What is one of the theories well known for describing motivation?
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
When did Maslow create the hierarchy of needs?
1954, when he published it in his book.
What two motivations did Maslow theorise?
Basic needs- Psychological
Self-actualisation
What is Self-actualisation?
Motivation to reach full potential. If basic needs are met then self actualisation can take place.
Peer pressure falls within conformity, what is conformity?
The tendency to allow ones opinions, attitudes, behaviours, actions and perceptions be affected by others.
What factors does conformity depend on?
Culture
Gender
Self-esteem
Familiarity to subject
How can peer pressure and conformity be reduced?
If an individual expresses their thoughts from the outset.
How can a culture of an organisation be judged?
By what is done rather than what is said.
What is the best method for measuring attitudes to safety within an organisation?
Questionnaire.
What is a safety culture an amalgamation of?
Attitude, beliefs and actions of individuals.
