A group of organisms and their environment

Describe the nutrient cycle and a way of remembering it
Animals come in, then decompose (along with plants) into the ground. The tree then consumes these nutrients from under the ground and then deposits them through their leaves where the cycle begins again

what is the difference between each 3 organism classifications
producers- use energy from the sunlight to do photosynthesis
consumers- eat the producers
decomposers- organisms and microorganisms such as fungi and insects that break down into the ground giving it nutrients

desert- less than 25cm of precipitation per year. found on the tropics
grassland- distinct dry and wet seasons with lots of grass
temperate desciduous forest- four distinct seasons and found on the mid latitudes
rainforest- found on the equator. hot and wet all year round
polar- cold, icy and dark all year round
tundra- found at high latitudes. very cold winters and short summers. found in places like canada
what is a biome
A biome is a community of plants and animals that have common characteristics for the environment they exist in. They can be found over a range of continents.

hot and wet all year round. approx 27 degrees
what are the four layers of a rainforest
shrub, under canopy, main canopy, emergent layer
plant adaptations to living in the rainforest
butress routes for stability, trees are tall to get sunlight for photosynthesis and drip tips so water can run off the leaf
animal adaptations to living in the amazon
short wings so they can maneoivre themselves
flying frogs develop flaps to gluide from tree to tree
nocturnal so they can feed at a more practical time of day
causes of deforestation in the rainforest
farming- families are using it for personal profit
cattle- burn trees down
logging- chop down trees for profit
mining- self explanatory
local and global impacts of amazon deforestation
global- more co2 in the atmosphere as trees arent absorbing it for phototynthesis
local- loss of tourim but more space for things listed above and also loss oh animals and their habitats (ecosystems)
