B10 Flashcards
What is Homeostasis?
Homeostasis is the regulation of internal conditions of a cell or organisms to maintain optimum conditions for function, in response to internal and external changes.
Why is Homeostasis important?
Homeostasis Is important for maintaining optimal conditions for enmzyme action and cell functions.
What does Homeostasis do in the body?
In the human body Homeostasis includes control of blood glucose concentration, body temperatures, and water levels.
What is automatic control system?
The automatic control system may involve nerve or chemical responses
What do all control systems include?
Receptors, coordination centres, and affecters.
What does the nervous system do?
The nervous system uses electrical impulses to enable you to react quickly to your surroundings and coordinate your behaviour.
What happens?
Impulses from receptors pass along sensory neurones to the brain or spinal cord. The brain coordinates the response, and impulses are sent along monitor neurones from the brain to the effector organs.
