Q

Main events in cycle and what they do

A

16
Q

Which hormone causes the egg to mature

A

FSH

17
Q

Which hormone starts to be released around day 5

A

FSH

18
Q

Name a hormone that is NOT released by the pituitry gland

A

Oestrogen

Progesterone

19
Q

Hoe does FSH get from the pituitry gland to the ovaries

A

Blood

20
Q

What effect does oestrogen have on FSH

A

It stops it

21
Q

What does LH do

A

Stops oestrogen
LH releases the egg in ovaries
Stimulates progesterone
Day 14

22
Q

Which two hormones are not contained in the contraceptive pill

A

FSH

LH

23
Q

What happens at the end of menstrual cycle

A

Lining breaks
Bleeding
No hormones needed

24
Q

Which hormone causes uterus lining to build up

A

Oestrogen

25
Q

Describe the roles of FSH and LH

A

FSH develops egg and starts to release Oestrogen

LH stops oestrogen and causes release of an egg

26
Q

Use of plant hormones

A

Agriculture and horticulture

Auxins can be used as weed killers and rooting powders

27
Q

What is ethen used for

A

Controls fruit ripening

28
Q

What are giberellins and uses

A

Can be used to increase fruit size, increases yield in sugar cane and promotes flowering
