A

Open bight where the ship canal is entered. Largest marina in Seattle area. Clay cliffs extend .5 miles at S end of Bay.

Project depth is 30’. Entrance marked by lighted range light and buoys. 5 bascule bridges, 2 fixed bridges.

Hiram M Chttenden Locks

A
  • double lock and a fixed damn at the narrows of the entrance to Salmon Bay. Large Lock is 2 chambers with a salt barrier at east end, 30’ minute transit time. Small Lock is single chamber, 5-10’ transit time.

A

runs N/S, 1 mile long, .5 mile wide. Pacific Marine Center base of the National Ocean Service, a drydock company adjacent to PMC with floating drydocks, Lake Union Park at S end, Gas Works Park at N end.

Between Seattle and Mercer Island. Has fixed spans at E and W ends. Fixed bridge on E side of Mercer Island. Measured mile on pontoon bridge, 091° 55’ / 271° 55’.
