What is the NICE criteria for AKI?
A
Rise in creatinine >=25mm/L in 48 hours
Rise in creatinine >= 50% in 7 days
Urine output <0.5ml/Kg/hr for >6 hours

What symptoms and signs may be present in AKI?
A
Reduced urine output
Pulmonary and peripheral oedema
Arrhythmias (due to changes in potassium and acid-base balance)
Features of uraemia (e.g. pericarditis or encephalopathy)

Which medications have to be stopped in AKI?
A
Medications that worsen renal function: NSAIDs (Except aspirin) Aminoglycosides (e.g gentamicin) ACE inhibitors ARB Diuretics
Medications that increase risk of toxicity in AKI:
Metformin
Lithium
Digoxin
